Course Description
Topics in cryptography and network security, with an
emphasis of applications of mathematical cryptography
in electronic commerce. In Spring 1996, the main
topics will be electronic cash and electronic payment systems.
Additional topics will include conventional and public-key
cryptography, digital signatures, cryptographic protocols,
and key escrow systems. Materials will be drawn from
recent research papers. Each student will be required to
carry out an original research project.
