Instuctions for submitting cipher solutions
1. your solutions should be typed.
Your solution should be turned in as hard copy by
the announced due date.
Solutions which may be one of the first should be emailed
to me for time stamp.
2. your solutions should include:
i) your name ...please do NOT include your SSN
ii) the date of submission and the time and date you solved
the cipher
iii) the original cipher (cut and paste)
iv) your solution---
You should correct all misspellings that you find. These
misspellings are due to errors in the original plaintext
or are due to errors in encryption. You may present the
punctuation as you find it but you should remove extraneous
symbols.
v) the method with which you solved the cipher. You should be
fairly detailed in presenting your solution. It's better,
in this case, to be too verbose than too terse.
vi) indicate how much time you spent in breaking the cipher
(include the amount of time you spent in writing up your
solution).
vii) indicate any software tools you used either from our website,
another website, or one of your own creation. Be specific.
If you used a tools of your own creation include a copy of
it.(sometimes students receive bonus points for such tools).
3. The work you submit should be your own. On no account should you
copy the work of others or allow others to copy your work. Failure
to observe this in the past has resulted in several cases of
student hardship.
4. If you believe that you are one of the first solvers send your
solution to me as soon as possible. You do not need, at that
point, to go into detail of how you solved it. Later you will
need to submit your solution following steps 1-3 above.
