Academic Respect

It is respectful to address university employees by the highest title
that applies.  If in doubt, err on the side of higher respect.  Thus,
"Dean Carmi" is more respectful than "Professor Carmi" is more
respectful than "Dr. Carmi."
    Using respectful titles is especially appropriate when making
statements in the presence of third parties or outsiders.
