CMSC-652: Course Policy (spring 1997)

Required Work

Each student is expected to come to class having completed the assigned readings (briefly glancing at an assigned paper before class is not sufficient). Each student in expected to participate in class actively.

Each student will present one or two research papers. The student must first discuss the paper selection with the instructor.

Each student must complete a focused original research project which attempts to extend, refine, or improve an existing research paper. In consultation with the instructor, each student must select the project and underlying paper prior to spring break.

Each student must create a course WWW page with useful links relating to course material.

Grading

Research project (60%)
Paper presentation(s) (20%)
Class participation (10%)
WWW page (10%)
