Design 1

Due Date: March 8, 2007

Propose a visualization design for attitude survey data. Discuss your design in a 1-2 page document describing your design and explaining your design choices. Be prepared to present your design to the client and class in a 5-10 minute presentation. The objectives of this assignment are:

Interview a potential client in order to understand data characteristics and information discovery/communication goals.
Develop a novel display for abstract data in the context of data characteristics and client goals.
Discuss your design choices and the expected effectiveness of your design.

Grading Standards
Your design will be assessed for novelty, expected effectiveness, and responsiveness to client goals.

All text is expected to be in clear and correct English.

What to turn in

Turn in a printed copy of your design document in class on the day due. If your images are in color and you do not have access to a color printer, also mail me a pdf copy of your report. Bring a large size copy of your design (either a soft copy for projection or a poster-size mockup) to class for use during your presentation.
