From: Professor Yun Peng To: CS Graduate Students Date: 8/18/1997 Please note the following changes, if you have not already known them. 1. CMSC692 and 693 are no longer required. They become electives for students who wish to improve their oral/writing communication skills. 2. All MS student chosen non-thesis option under the new program (starting at Fall, 1996) should use CMSC698 (3 Credit Hours) to fulfill the MS project requirement. 3. MS students under the old program may register some credit hours of 698 instead of 692/693 if the latters are not offered in a given semester. In this case, the combined credit hours of 692/693/698 must be at least 3. 4. PhD students may use CMSC800 for their PhD level independent studies before becoming PhD candidates. The Teaching Assistant assignment for Fall 1997 will be posted on the web very soon. Please contact the instructors of the respective courses before the classes begin. The renewal of your TA positions depends, among other things, on your performance of your assigned TA duties. Your performance will be evaluated each semester by the course instructors.
