       TWO Postdoc positions in agent-based modelling

    Department of Computer Science, University of Oxford

One post available at Grade 8 (£42,149 - £50,296 p.a.)

One post available at Grade 7 (£33,309 - £40,927 p.a.)

The Department of Computer Science at the University of Oxford seeks

to employ two postdoctoral researchers to work on a project in the

area of agent-based modelling/multi-agent systems, under the direction

of PI Professor Michael Wooldridge. The post is full-time, fixed term

position, tenable immediately, and will be available until the end of

September 2026 subject to satisfactory review.

The positions will be based within the Department’s offices in central

Oxford (depending on prevailing COVID circumstances). The successful

candidate will work with Professor Wooldridge and Professors Ani

Calinescu and Doyne Farmer on one or more of the following four areas:

* modelling languages for agent-based models (with particular interest

  in probabilistic programming);

* populating agent-based models with realistic agent behaviours (e.g.,

  using machine learning techniques);

* calibrating large-scale agent-based models; and

* validation and verification of agent-based models (e.g., using

  techniques from game theoretic model checking/synthesis).

Grade 7 positions are suitable for candidates coming out of a PhD

position; Grade 8 posts are suitable for candidates with postdoc

experience, with some evidence of setting an independent postdoc

research agenda. If you are unsure which to apply for, please apply

for the Grade 7 position and indicate in your cover letter that you

wish to be considered for the Grade 8 post also. There is no need to

apply for both.
