Postdoc Position in Swarm Robotics


The Department of Knowledge Engineering (DKE) at Maastricht University, the
Netherlands, invites applications for a full-time postdoc position in Swarm
Robotics. Among the topics considered as particularly relevant for this
position are swarm intelligence, (bio)-mechanical engineering, reinforcement
learning, and adaptive control. The successful applicant will have the
opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in a highly stimulating
academic environment. The successful applicant will be embedded in the RAI
research group (Robotics, Agents and Interaction) of the DKE department.



**** REQUIREMENTS

Ph.D. in Computer Science/Engineering or a closely related subject area.
Demonstrated research excellence in swarm robotics and preferably in at
least one of above mentioned topics of particular relevance. Interest in
both theory and real-world applications. Team orientation and willingness to
take a leading role in research. Developed ability to contribute to teaching
at the bachelor and master levels. Experience in research funding
acquisition is appreciated.


**** CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

The position is offered for a two-year period. Salary is competitive,
depending on qualifications and work experience, and ranges from EUR 2379 to
EUR 4374 per month for a full-time job (38 hours/week).

On top of this, there is an 8% holiday and an 8.3% year-end allowance.
Non-Dutch applicants could be eligible for a favorable tax treatment (30%
rule).

Interaction”, “Networks and Strategic Optimization”, and “Biomathematics and
Bioinformatics”. Education programs currently offered by DKE are Knowledge
Engineering (Bachelor), Artificial Intelligence and Operations Research
(both Master). DKE has been top-ranked in Keuzegids Hoger Onderwijs (2009).
With respect to both research and teaching DKE is engaged in various
national and international cooperations.
