As the moves are made on a physical board in Room ECS 022 at UMBC, a
member of the UMBC Chess Team will enter the moves through
the Internet Chess Club (ICC). To view the game
live over the ICC, simply connect to ICC and type
observe Sagalchik or observe StarSocrates
The ICC will be used only to display the moves; it will not
be used in any official capacity by the players.
The ICC has set up two special accounts---Sagalchik
and StarSocrates. To read a news message, type
finger Sagalchik or finger StarSocrates
To connect to ICC via telnet, type
telenet chess.lm.com 5000
If you are not an ICC member, select any (obscure) user name
that is not already in use. Use the help and info
commands to learn more about the ICC.
The xboard program provides a nice color graphical interface for
xwindows. Using the help command you can learn how to download and
use this program. Without such a program, the board position will be
displayed in ASCII characters.
