Visiting CSEE |
The CSEE Department has space in three UMBC buildings: Information Technology and Engineering (ITE), Engineering and Computer Science (ECS) and the Technology Research Center (TRC). The Department headquarters is on the third floor of the ITE building in room 325. Most faculty have offices in the ITE building on the second or third floor. Many EE faculty have their labs and additional offices in the TRC building. The Institute for Language and Information Technology and the CADIP lab are located in the ECS building. |
To find the office location or phone number of CSEE faculty or staff, use the UMBC phone book or call
410-455-1000. Here are some floorplans: second and third floor of the ITE building. |

UMBC is south of Baltimore city, just outside the beltway. To get here when driving on I-95, get off at exit 47B (Route 166 toward Catonsville) and follow the signs to UMBC. From the airport, exit on 195 and follow this west for about five miles. As it passes under I-95 it turns into 166. The UMBC exit is just a quarter mile further. If you arrive at the BWI airport or train station, take a taxi, which should be a short ten minute ride. More further orientation, see this map or the directions on the UMBC visitor's guide. |
Parking on the UMBC campus is in short supply and visitors should park in one of the special visitors parking lots. Visitors to the ITE and ECS buildings are advised to park in the administration drive parking lot (see map below). As you enter the UMBC campus coming from I-95, turn right onto Loop Road. Turn left at the first stop sign, onto Administration Drive. At the second stop sign, turn onto the upper deck of the parking garage. This lot is equipped with parking meters with a four hour maximum at $0.25 for fifteen minutes. There is a change machine in the lot but it is often broken. The ITE and ECS buildings are just five minutes from here by foot. Meters are enforced Monday through Friday for hours posted. Except for meters, all other campus roadways and lots require a permit. If you plan to visit for an entire day or more, contact your host about alternate parking arrangements. |
