The
28TH Annual GRC will be held on Friday, April 28, 2006 at the University Center
on the UMBC campus. It is sponsored by the Graduate Student Associations from
both UMBC and UMB.
We are requesting your assistance in judging either
posters or oral presentations during this years’ GRC. Both poster and oral
sessions will run concurrently throughout both the morning and afternoon. We
are looking for faculty and post-docs to volunteer to help the GSA in serving
the graduate student body. At the GRC, recognition is given to each participant
as well as the presentation deemed to be the most outstanding within each
session. It is the task of the judges to choose one presentation over others,
despite the diversity of fields of study, the range of development of projects,
and the varying status of the graduate student participant. In an effort to
remove some of the subjectivity of judging, presentations will be compared and
contrasted based on the following criteria:
- identification of the hypothesis/question;
- appropriate experimental design/research plan;
- ability to answer questions;
- clear presentation of data;
- interpretation of results;
- overall impression of presenter and presentation.
